Yesterday our apartment complex hosted a party in celebration of Fourth of July. It was a nice bbq, and I got to visit with a few neighbors.
The thing that really bothered me was that there were so many people out there smoking and drinking. I was really annoyed that they were lighting up around the children. I mean, sure we were outside, but why couldn't they move about 25 feet or more away from the children instead of lighting up right next to my baby....urrgh. I kept moving to get away from one person only to encounter another. I hate cigarette smoke!
The drinking didn't really bother me that much, until it came time for the fireworks. A bunch of drunk guys setting off fireworks, what a recipe for disaster. A little girl, about 12 years old I guess, got hit in the arm with a roman candle. Yep, such fun! That and Josh was less than impressed by the whole fireworks thing. He was a bit scared of the noise initially. He would hollar each time the noisy ones went off. Hopefully he'll like the ones tomorrow a bit more.
The complex held a drawing for door prizes. We won 7 tickets to the local baseball team games. It was actually quite amusing, first drawing...tickets - Vicie, fourth drawing....tickets - James. Then Josh won a cool paddle and ball set. I love baseball, but 7 tickets? I guess we'll either be going to a bunch of games or taking some friends to one.
