So the long holiday weekend is over. It was a great one. This is the first year James and I have had a holiday off together, so we tried to make the best of it. We enjoyed going around to a few skate parks in the area, and then went to the community fireworks display last night. We got there nice and early to get a good spot, and just sat talking for about 3 hours until the fireworks finally began. Josh was very nervous about the small fireworks a few families were setting off around us. He became really cuddly as they started. Around 9:45 he couldn't handle it anymore, had a snack and went off to sleep....and slept through the entire fireworks display! I covered his little ears, which helped some, but he snoozed through the whole show then woke up for the walk home. He is such a joy.
It was a nice weekend to reflect how lucky we are to live in a country that allows us so many freedoms; a country that wants to protect those freedoms as well as help others gain them. I am very grateful that my husband is willing to be among those that serve our country, and that he cares enough about the world to help secure freedom for others. I am grateful for the blessings that come with life in the USA, and I truly enjoyed this time of reflection.
