We are in week two of our homeschooling adventure. It is going better than expected in many areas, and is proving to be challenging in others. I don't think I expected Trey to have such a hard time with it, or for Seth to be so amazingly patient as I work with Josh. Josh is doing fantastic, and craves more information. I feel like I'm not prepared enough some days because he blows through the material so fast. I am really enjoying myself.
I started another blog for journaling the material we cover each day. It is partially for myself, to be able to look back and see what we have covered, or what we need to work more on. It's also because my husband doesn't seem to be totally on board with this homeschool thing, and I think it will be good for him to see all that we do each day. He is all for sticking Josh into K as soon as we are settled in TX, whereas I am all for continuing to homeschool indefinitely. I guess we will see where we end up. Yesterday he had the day off and "stayed out of my way" to see how the day goes when he isn't here. He kept asking me why I wasn't doing school exactly as our schedule is set up. I had to explain that some lessons we finish more quickly, and some take longer than anticipated. Plus, if Trey is screaming at me or stealing Josh's writing utensils I often need to take a break and nurse him or play with him. It was kind of funny, seeing how we differ in styles. He is militant and I am free spirit. I think he was impressed though when Josh went upstairs and asked if he could measure things in his office. He was like, wow, he got that really quick. He also quizzed Josh over dinner about things he learned during the day.
Josh's best funny quote of the day was "So, to be a good citizen I need to follow the rules and laws, help neighbors and my community, and clean the litter box." We had discussed cleaning the environment and not littering, which in his mind blended into cleaning the litter box. Silly, silly boy!!
